Asif Kapadia doc on Amy Winehouse continues awards season hot streak
Amy -- the heartbreaking documentary about the late Amy Winehouse -- is the best documentary of the year, according to the Chicago Film Critics Association.
The CFCA picked Asif Kapadia's film over a strong field includingMatthew Heineman's Cartel Land, Kirby Dick's The Hunting Ground, The Look of Silence by Joshua Oppenheimer and Michael Moore's latest, Where to Invade Next.
Amy has been on a roll as awards season accelerates. It previously won Best Documentary from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, the Washington Area Film Critics Association and theNational Board of Review. It recently made the Oscar shortlist and also was nominated for a Grammy Award as Best Music Film.
The only major award it hasn't won recently is IDA top prize for Best Documentary Feature. That honor went to The Look of Silence. |
