Film by Amy Berg claims #1 spot again Amy Berg's documentary on the late Janis Joplin, Janis: Little Girl Blue, continues its reign as the top documentary at the box office. It finished number one again over the weekend, pushing its 10-week total to $355,260, according to audience measurement firm Rentrak. The film features some of Joplin's most famous performances, including her appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival with Big Brother and the Holding Company. Touching letters she wrote to her family from the road also factor into the documentary, voiced over by "Chan" Marshall, aka Cat Power. Coming in second among documentaries at the box office was the IMAX favorite Journey to the South Pacific, which has now earned $7,106,795 in over two years of release.
Troublemakers: The Story of Land Art came in third, followed by The Messenger and Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words, Rentrak reported. |
