You've Been Trumped by director Anthony Baxter came out in 2012, with tagline "Because money & power should not cost the earth"
Donald Trump maintains he's half-Scottish, but that hasn't stopped him from alienating plenty of his ancestral countryfolk.
He earned their ire while developing the Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire, pressing ahead over the objection of many locals who felt the project endangered environmentally-sensitive lands.
The 2012 film You've Been Trumped focused on the controversy over the golf course development, depicting Trump as a bully who ran roughshod over ordinary Scots in his way. Now -- with Trump seeking the Republican Party's nomination for President -- it's about to be re-released.
Anthony Baxter's documentary will open at the Crest Theatre in the Westwood section of Los Angeles on November 4. It also is available through Hulu. Screenings in your town can be arranged through WannaWatch.it
Ryan Markowitz of Emerging Pictures acknowledged Trump's increased prominence of late inspired the company's decision to re-release the documentary.
"Whether you support him or not, Donald Trump is everywhere these days,” Ryan Markowitz said in a statement quoted by Entertainment Weekly. “This documentary gives insight into a project of his and how it was conducted, which is ever more important as he touts his business credentials as the mainstay of his presidential bid.”
Trump succeeded in building one 18-hole course in Aberdeenshire, but his plan to build a second is up in the air. Trump has said he may not go forward with the additional course after he lost a legal ruling to stop the creation of a wind farm off the Scottish coast, which he said would spoil the view.
Trump is appealing that ruling. He has since bought a property in Ireland which he plans to develop into another luxury resort and golf destination. Of course, his electoral fortunes presumably will play a role in how far any of his building projects go in the future.
