Directors of Shirkers, Dark Money, Charm City, The Distant Barking of Dogs, producer of On Her Shoulders confirmed to participate in roundtable discussion; more talent to be announced Nonfictionfilm.com is hosting a roundtable discussion in Los Angeles this Sunday, January 6, featuring filmmakers recognized on the Oscar documentary shortlist. The event will take place at Downtown Independent (251 S. Main Street, LA) from 4-5:30 p.m., with a reception to follow. Filmmakers confirmed to participate include Sandi Tan, director of Shirkers; Kimberly Reed, director of Dark Money; Marilyn Ness, director of Charm City; Haley Pappas, producer of On Her Shoulders, and Simon Lereng Wilmont, director of The Distant Barking of Dogs. Update: Directors of four of the shortlisted short documentaries are joining the roundtable--Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman of End Game; Skye Fitzgerald of Lifeboat; Rayka Zehtabchi, director of Period. End of Sentence., and Floyd Russ, director of Zion. Nonfictionfilm.com editor Matt Carey will moderate the event. Prominent members of the documentary community, including many working professionals, are expected to attend. We will broadcast the roundtable on Facebook Live.
