Nonfiction and fiction filmmakers walk the red carpet, then party outside Orpheum
The 2019 Outfest Film Festival is underway after a rousing start at the Orpheum Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
Rachel Mason's documentary Circus of Books, about the gay adult bookstore owned by her parents Karen and Barry Mason, earned the honor of opening the festival Thursday night. The film executive produced by Ryan Murphy (Pose, American Horror Story) and John Battsek (Listen to Me Marlon), among others, has been acquired by Netflix.
The Mason family walked the red carpet, as did a wide range of documentary and fiction filmmakers and actors. Click on the photo gallery to see the talent we caught on camera.
