Anything is comedy fodder for these guys, including a wayward mike One of the most enjoyable films to emerge from the SXSW film festival reunited the key surviving originators of the Muppets, who under Jim Henson's direction created a cultural phenomenon. In Muppet Guys Talking: Secrets Behind the Show the Whole World Watched, Muppeteers Frank Oz, Bill Barretta, Fran Brill, Dave Goelz and Jerry Nelson sat down for an unprecedented freewheeling conversation. Oz (the voice of Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Grover, Cookie Monster and others) directed; his wife Victoria Labalme produced. Almost all (Nelson didn't make it) turned out for the world premiere at SXSW in Austin, Texas. The clip below is from our red carpet conversation with Barretta, Brill and Goelz, who found comedy in just about everything, including a backup mike that fell from its perch. |
